The project is to initiate Swiss-Georgian academic cooperation on different aspects of cultural
diversity. The first event under this project envisaged organization of international conference
“Swiss-Georgian Forum on Cultural Diversity: Multilingualism”. The conference aimed at
experience sharing and academic exchange in the field of diversity management. Participants
discussed different aspects of multilingual education and language policies both in Switzerland
and Georgia. The Swiss experience was presented by Dr. Claudine Brohy (University of
Fribourg/Freiburg), while Georgian approaches towards multilingual education and language
issues were discussed by representatives of different state agencies, linguists and advocates of
minority rights.
